I quit nearly 20 years ago. Still have the occasional craving. Then I walk by a smoker and realize how bad they stink and it goes away.

I smoked in my early 20’s, did the patch for a week and was done.

Zyn is just nicotine salt in a little pouch. No tobacco involved. I was never a smoker and got hooked on these things after trying them and got a nice little buzz. They help me with focus and energy during the day. There are studies coming out now that show nicotine to be possibly helpful in that regard.

Every now and then I'll have a dream where I'm smoking. Quit 20 years ago.

It seems like GenX was really the last generation with a lot of smokers. I have a kid in HS and don't really see it at all among the younger folks. Some of them vape and weed is pretty common, but not cigarettes.

I'd be willing to bet over 50% of us smoked in HS, or maybe I'm just trashy

Vaping is probably better described as wildly popular among teens. Nicotine and THC

I’ve been stuck at 4 cigarettes a day for 12 years. 2 in the morning with my coffee and 2 at night with a glass of wine. 100% mental addiction at this point and still haven’t kicked it.

My mind as an ex-smoker when reading that:

It never goes away completely.

IIRC you went the Uncle Buck route?

Buck: Isn't that something? I'm on to cigars now. I'm on to a five-year plan. I eliminated cigarettes, then I go to cigars, then I go to pipes, then I go to chewing tobacco, then I'm on to that nicotine gum.

I'm in the final phase. Maybe I should try kicking the gum.

I quit because my kids were getting old enough to understand dad was a smoker and I didn't want them to smoke.

Yeah.

Still smoking a cigar or so a week, luckily never progressed to chew.

I can honestly say that I have zero cravings for a cig. Different for each individual, I guess.

After about a month or so the cravings slow down. One of the best things I did when I was getting the craving I would hop in the shower. You have to find anything to do that you cannot do while smoking

Never truly, especially if you're still around it. I'm 7 months here and still have cravings but very manageable. I also use nicotine lozenges

No, never… going on twelve years now.
When I drink a beer, it’s bad and if they came out with a safe alternative cigarette….I’d start back tomorrow.

I quit smoking a few years ago. The cravings never really go away, they just become easier to manage

Only 4 a day?

I'm sure there's a lot of folks who would say that's four too many, but seriously how bad can that REALLY be?

It's not so much as a craving for the cig itself, it's more like certain times or things will remind my brain "hey, this would be a great time for a smoke", like after a great meal or something. It's the ritual more than the smoke itself.

Quit cold turkey, and after three days I was over the physical addiction but still missed smoking for about 10 years. Now I find the smell as repulsive as someone who has never smoked. It was the hardest thing I ever did in my life, but it was the best thing too, good riddance.

I quit over 20 years ago and it took me around a month and a half for cravings to go away. For around 2 years my hand would subconsciously be reaching in my shirt pocket for a cigarette though

That’s exactly how I feel… at all times
