You see that's not how that works

All those students have to do is to go to the department chair and the professor will be forced

So the graders control the policy of the school or does the school say screw you and start either firing anyone who won’t release grades ( holding them hostage) if you can’t fire force them out?

I like the implicit assumption that his demands WILL be met, and done within the next 6 months.

But hey, he will do nothing that could jeopardize their academic standing, right? What about the students who goofed off a little too hard and so they busted arse this semester to get their overall GPA high enough to retain a scholarship? What about the students planning to graduate this semester? What about the classes this might be a prequisite for.

Imagine being one of the students in the class that puts their head down and just wants to graduate with no drama.

Sounds like the university isn't delivering on their end. Student paid for the course and the grade

Where is this professor's name? Without the name, it seems suspicious.

I imagine tenure isn’t a protection here. You still have to do your job. He can easily be told he needs to issue grades to enrolled students or be fired, tenure or not.

Seems like a lawsuit and possibly a class action suit could be brought.

If the professors have tenure then the chair can't do anything by themselves. It would take a trustee vote or something similar.

I'd band together with my classmates and sue the shite out of this professor. There are several ways this can negatively (and materially) impact students in his class. Feel terrible for the kids that bust their arse and don't cause problems getting screwed over by this a-hole.

Any employee defiantly not performing their required tasks should result in immediate termination.
