You mean some of the greatest action movies of all time?

Gender isn’t the problem, it’s when you try to make it all about that primarily without giving a damn about the character itself when it becomes the problem.

The writing in the ST is absolutely a huge part of the problem.

I think the biggest issue with all None OT star wars movies is too that they’re too focused on Jedis.

Jedis are space nerds. The Jedi Order is the Catholic Church. The only thing cool about them is lightsabers.

The OT had the right balance of spaceship fights and non Jedi main characters.

That’s why Andor and Mandolorian are great properties. They aren’t all space nerds briefly interrupted by awesome sword fights

It's when they try to make women men. All of the examples listed above include female leads who fill the role as action heroes while maintaining their femininity. Their motivations are feminine motivations surrounding motherhood, etc, which make them believable. They aren't just cast as women (who are basically just dudes with tits) whose motivations are just being super badass boss bitches.

I mean idk how that not does describe Furiosa.

And Kill Bill is literally female revenge porn. Thats what Tarantino does lately.

but the plots they are stuck in make sense and the action scenes sorta make up for it.

These YouTube guys wouldn’t have an audience without the blatant fan baiting that Disney in particular engages in

yeah i shouldnt have said all. you're right about Furiosa for sure.

Kill Bill is revenge porn for sure, but i dont know, for some reason Uma Thurman still feels feminine, and there's the motherhood aspect in those movies as well. plus the story is good.

It doesn't matter the gender if the story sucks.

Game of Thrones is a great expample

Daenerys Targaryen
Stark Girls
Stark Mom
Cersi
Margaery
Ygritte

All amazing female characters but from a writer who understands context and arc and development.

They still don’t get it. Neither Rey nor Daisy Ridley playing her were the problem. That they still don’t understand that shows how out of touch they remain.

They tried to make all the GOT women the heroes at the end and it failed miserably because they were never set up that way nor are females leading battles a naturally satisfying story or event.

They hate the fact that women in the real world are best suited towards motherhood. It absolutely makes then seethe and they despise female roles that remind them of that fact so they constantly try to put females in subversive roles that go completely against feminity and motherhood.

Yeah none of this is remotely why GOT failed. It failed because they went past the books and D&D couldn’t write shite without aid from the books. Also Jon and Euron were two major players at the end along with Jamie, Bran, and Tyrion also having significant impacts. And saying shite like Dany wasn’t set up to be a leader might the dumbest GOT related statement I’ve ever read on this board. Her entire story led to her winning the throne.

I think people completely missed the point of that episode of South Park or half of it at least. Yes putting out a shite product and then claiming but “it’s progressive” so it’s ok now is especially lazy and shitty. However, acting like “woke” is the only reason for the problems with Marvel and Disney is in itself also extremely lazy and a terrible take. The MCU isn’t experiencing problems because of “woke” it’s due to over saturation as well as a universe feeling sort of empty and without a plan. In the Infinity saga we knew the main players and we knew the goal would be eventually the Infinity stones. Now? We know it’s a multiverse and Kang exists but that’s about it. We certainly don’t know the main players or feel any sort of connection between the movies and shows.

Well duh, they need to.

It's action/adventure, with heroic figures doing heroic deeds. In other words, stuff males are into, from preteen to old guys. I think the studios figured out LONG AGO what types of stories appealed to which demographic, and for the longest time did a great job of making and marketing to those demographics.
It wasn't until recently that they tried to get girls interested in Star Wars and the MCU, and other such stuff. I get it, it's a huge additional viewing audience if you can keep the old one and pull in the new; but it hasn't worked. It still doesn't appeal to girls in general, and now guys find it incredibly annoying.

That's a very good point. Han was my favorite OT character, because he was relatable as a kid. I couldn't "Use the Force", but I could (conceivably) become a great pilot who's quick on the draw, and hang with my bud/dog? doing nefarious "bad boy" things. Han Solo had the same draw Sonny Crockett and Thomas Magnum did, they were all cool.

Luke's cool too, but in an untouchable way. The less he uses a blaster and pilots a fighter, and the more he uses the Force, the less relatable he is. He becomes a magical figure, not an everyman.

Definitely a shame. Its funny I said with rare exceptions female lead action movies suck...and he lists almost all the rare exceptions.

My point still stands. Except mad max none if those movies were from the woke era.
