Looking for some ideas. I know this is nowhere near what is needed to see new york city.

I would like to see the statue of liberty but have missed out on the crown tour. I have read it isnt worth just going to the island because of the time along with my time constraints it doesnt seem worth it. I have read that it can be viewed form the jersey side pretty well. so I may just do that.

I am guessing times square area friday night? just not sure what to expect. any good streets in that area to hit that would have some good food and bar options? I have looked but as you can imagine it is a little overwhelming.

You do have to see Times Square but I wouldn’t spend hours there. It is very touristy.
Walk around for a while then go to John’s Pizza a few blocks away.

Food/drink in NYC is the easier part to figure out since there are abundant food options in most neighborhoods that tourist visit. Pick the things you want to see/do, then figure out food and drink.

With 24 hours for a first trip I would do some combo of: Staten Island ferry (there and back) to see Statue of Liberty, walk to World Trade Center memorial site, walk around, and/or visit memorial, quick walk to wall street, subway to midtown, walk to times square and look around for a few minutes, Friday evening Broadway show, lunch/dinner in Chinatown, visit Empire State Building or other high rise with viewing area, after dinner drink in a nice west village spot.

Thats a lot I know.

Ten minutes is enough time in Times Square to be able to say you saw it.

I second this…great pizza. If you’re doing a show Book of Mormon is hilarious.

How many people?

Are kids with you?

What is your budget?

What type of traveler are you?

What do you like to do?

Those factors weigh heavily on recommendations. Definitely catch a show one night. This is true for almost all people if you've never done it. You will like it even if you don't think so in advance!

1 maybe 2 people no kids. No budget. I like to stay busy.

I’ll be doing the hook show in Atlantic City Thursday night. Not sure if I like the broadway style of show maybe I like something a little more raunchy. Haha.

I wouldn’t mind a place with some good latin vibes.

Friday start with Clam Chowder at the Grand Central Oyster Bar. Take the Subway across Manhattan to Hudson Yards and walk The High Line.

From there walk over to Washington Square Park and people watch.

Since you are in The Village head over to The Comedy Cellar and check some Comedy. Go check out the bar "Down the Hatch"

Saturday, head to Rudy's for the Circle Line Tour talegate.

Take the full Island Tour...it takes you right by the Statue of Liberty and Yankee Stadium. I've done it over 20 times. My Dad LOVED IT!

After..whatever you decide but i would tecommend you watch "Here Be Barr" on YouTube.

I'd say don't plan out where you want to eat.
Just pick an area for lunch and dinner to do something else, walk around and just pick a place that looks interesting. There's so many places to eat in that city, just go find something on your own.

I dont even remember where we ate this one time but we were all aggravated after walking all day, were walking back to our hotel, stopped at some italian restaraunt, was about to leave b/c all they had was pretty much spaghetti on the menu and the kids were bitching about it, ate it anyway and every single one of us said that's the best spaghetti i've ever had.

Find a random hole in the wall for pizza or a reuban sandwich.

oh and don't let the morons dressed up in costumes make you take a picture in Times Square with them. They are goign to expect you to tip them.

I agree...after you get the Clam Chowder at the Grand Central Station Oyster Bar...if you listen to me...you will NOT be mad at me for this recommendation.

I will even go as far as saying it doesn't matter whether you get the New England or Manhattan Chowder...both are fantastic.

After that...do what Teddy said!
