Given that the dudes are barely making above Minimum Wage, you want to take more money out of their pockets each month? We all can agree that agencies aren't getting the Best and the Brightest for what they are paying. Now you expect to cut pay (by making them buy insurance) and think that will help the situation?

I agree the deputies were dumb.
I agree I hate that my taxes are going to this.

But your ideas are terrible.

How about we cut all the bullshite pet projects our local government funds. Put that money into higher pay for Law Enforcement officers (and not more toys or bullshite) and then start recruiting bright and motivated officers who understand things like Constitutional Rights? Then weed out and get rid of the dudes who can't keep up with the new standards.

At the end of the day, punishing all the other officers isn't going to correct this behavior. It will exacerbate it when the good officers leave and we are left with only the bottom feeders.

Someone on here is going to run to the "bootlicker" button on their keyboard because I dared to suggest an alternative to punishment over solving the problem. I don't even support the idiots who threatened the kid but that won't matter.
