Barring that, take it from the police pension fund so the good cops start giving the bad ones a Code Red.

Perhaps not all of it. Most Sheriffs belong to the Louisiana Sheriff's Municipal Association wherein they buy an insurance company for their department equal to the Cap on General Damages outlined by the legislature. So, sheriff will likely have to pay the deductible and the association's insurance will likely cover the rest.
