Went from Goodyear all terrain tires to new no name regular tires. Very noticable difference.

Yup....... Them goodyears are probably close to 2k if not more and that bed cover is another $1000-1500.

If you are not in love with the truck I would def walk away but if u love the truck, then go do the dance.

I would be interested to see what kind of Interest rate they will hit you for a used truck. They have a lot of really good deals right now on new trucks.

That is fair.

Id still go in there after their “we will make it right” and tell them that you’re just not sure and walk out again.

They eroded your trust and give other car salespersons a shitty rep.

Tell them that you owe it to yourself to at least try to see if other dealerships will not screw you like said dealer did.

Yeah, I’m walking away immediately in that situation. I’m not making a large purchase from a place I don’t trust.

Exactly.

There's no telling what they did to that truck to make it "test drive ready" if they're pulling garbage like swapping tires and bedcovers. Hell, how do you know the same damn engine is in the truck at this point?

Yes. If you haven't seen the red flags, then you are blind. No telling what else changed that you cannot see. You can't trust this dealership now.

BMW of Fairfax.

1600mi 2023 BMW 550i

My first question, on any used car, even a a low-mile car, is any paintwork?
"No"

Made the deal, was gonna fly up and drive it back, then they disclosed that the front bumper cover had been removed and repainted

Went to buy a new work truck this weekend, dealership had 2.9% interest rates advertised. Turns out it's only on 1500, the 2500 interest rate came back at 13%

Also...

100%. Way too many vehicles out there to choose from and if they are doing crap like this, no telling what else their service department is doing, especially on a used vehicle.

Supply is catching up, new-car sales are slowing down.

If I was in the market for a new car, I'd sit tight for at least 3 months if possible.

Also, if looking for a used car,and you don't mind an EV, low-mile Teslas can be had for (relatively) cheap.

They can advertise a rate, but you still have to qualify for it. Your 550 beacon isn't getting you 2.99 anywhere.

Several years ago my wife wanted to surprise me with a new truck while I was out of the country for a few months.

She did her research and basically narrowed it down to two trucks. She eventually decided on one and got the financing squared away on a Friday afternoon.

My daughter wanted to see the truck so they went to the dealership the following Monday to look at it.

Some dickhead put over 800 miles on it that weekend. They assumed my wife wouldn't notice. She did.

Needless to say, I was not surprised by that truck when I landed at the airport a few days later.

Is this some new tactic

Definitely not new.

I bought a 2002 F-150 in 2004 that was incorrectly listed in a News on Wheels ad for the dealership.

Get to the sales paperwork and the price says $6000 more than the ad says.

Got the manager involved after the salesman tried to say that the lower price was for a different vehicle on the lot. There wasn't another one on the lot like the one I bought.

You walk away. They did you dirty.

Like someone esle said - there is no telling what else they are hiding from you.

Last tip - let us know which dealership it was so we won't go there lol

My brother in Christ, if this dealer is just one of those BS pre-owned lots you're going to get screwed more ways this time instead of just some crummy tires.

If it's an actual dealership, I'd probably raise hell all the way up to the GM and make them give you an offer you absolutely cannot refuse if you are dead set on trying to get this car. Pull up every detail from the Carfax, look at every detail with a fine tooth comb. Have them include whatever the hell you want in oil changes/rotations/etc. They already decided they want to lie to you about some tires that they thought you wouldn't see. 100% they've done this to someone else who hasn't noticed. I know damn well I wouldn't have checked out the tires on a pre-own unless there was a drastic difference from the first set.

Again as others have mentioned, this is the only lie you caught them in over something small in the grand scheme of it.

Like I just said, the special rate was for 1500's not 2500's, the big difference had very little to do with my credit score. My credit score is fantastic. My business credit score is just as good. This would have been my 3rd company truck from this dealership in the past three years. My previous two interest rates were 4.9 and 5.5. Hell I have a 100k equipment loan at 5.4. Try again.
