The funny thing is that the 80s movie is something akin to whatever nonsense would be generated these days - barely recognizable when compared to the source material beyond names/locations.

Earth is an unknown alien planet from Eternia's perspective. I don't know why they always attempt to shoehorn some connection with our planet when there isn't one there. Not to my recollection, at any rate.

Reading the synopsis, this was my first thought.

The original movie (which was by Cannon, when it was literally imploding, mind you) had this exact issue. So they're doubling down? Why?
