Mine turns 18 this month as well. Probably a pair of Costas and a nice round of golf with his friends.

I am taking him on a camping trip the weekend after his birthday. We are excited about that.

Musical instrument if he has an inclination. He'll keep it for life and pass it to hi
S children.

If you're serious, that's disgusting.

This is the OT. Why would I be serious? Do people seriously expect others to post pictures of their wives?

I suck at gift giving.

Keep a list of gift ideas in your phone for each of your loved ones. Whenever they drop a hint, or express a need, or you get an idea for a gift, jot it down where it will be saved. I’ve been doing this for 15 years or so, and it has helped me a lot.

A nice watch has always been a traditional gift for when a man turns 18

That's not a bad idea.

As for the gift, he needs a bag/case for his rifle, so I'll get him that and a bunch of ammo.

I know my son very very well. We spend a lot of time together. That doesn't translate into being a good gifter though.
