You don't gamble when you have money, you gamble when you need money.

It’s not working well in Louisiana IMO. Our schools suck and our roads have been neglected for 30 years.

I struggle to see value do these Casino’s bring to this state taxpayers. They are designed to keep patrons on property to so they don’t really promote much tourism outside of their walls. Most of the properties suck and are rarely renovated or improved. They do hire people, but not as many as you’d think.

Maybe someone from Lake Charles or Shreveport can help make this case for me. But I don’t think those properties have contributed much to the growth in those metro areas.

It's entertainment dollars, not their child's inheritance.

In that case, that's terrible.

If they're in a nursing home there's no inheritance. They're burning through their resources at $8-10k a month or they've already burned through them and are on Medicaid. They get like $40 a month personal allowance and if they want to blow it on the penny slots, God Bless them.

Yeah, the wife ( no pics) and I went to Vegas a couple years ago for our 25th anniversary and she made the observation that no one in there really looked like they were having fun. I got to looking around and she was right, it was kind of sad looking really

If slot machines were a State, it would be Louisiana.

Yep, and it's going to get worse with sports betting at the tip of your fingers 24/7.

I imagine Vegas has more people on vacation being rowdy and having fun.

I was referring to doing a walkthrough in any of the Lake Charles type casinos. RVs in the back of the parking lot (you’d think those types could at least get a comped room). Everyone sitting around the table or slots chain smoking and looking miserable bitching about someone else not playing the game right.

Well you have to know what you are up against. As far as the best odds, the $5 denom and higher is the best risk / reward as they are all in the low to high 90+% payback range (the higher the denom, the higher the payback percentage over the life of the machine).

Casinos cannot change this as they are programmed in the manufacturing process. Best friend for over 30 years has been a slot tech for most of the companies out there.

80+% of casino revenue is derived from penny, nickel, quarter and dollar slots.

Which is exactly why the casinos are filled with them.

A parent isn't obligated to leave an inheritance to their children. They earned what they have so let them be the ones who decide how to spend it.
There are far too many greedy offspring in this world just waiting for their inheritance.

I love putting $20 in and pulling the lever while drinking an ice cold Miller Lite. With that said, watching these old people blow through $100 in 2 minutes and then reload the machine does seem a little sad.

Agreed. But it is immoral that the government rakes in boatloads of money off of degenerates ruining their lives.
