Sure, but still want a big proven bat.

Hopefully Shores returns where he left off.

Name me a college baseball program who has 3 great weekend starters Friday/Saturday/Sunday. I’ll wait, because there isn’t one. There’s a reason why every team goes into the 3rd game without a pitcher announced.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the 3b from penn. But also I think we have plenty of quality pitchers. I also don’t think there is a “first order of business” when it comes to the portal.

Everyone in college is an unrestricted free agent. The first order of business should be making sure the bank account is healthy. The next order of business should be cherry-picking.

If you think quality depth for Sunday is the only pitching issue for next year, Holman, Gage, and Little will get drafted, all are at least 3 years removed from HS.

Some team may take a flyer on Hurd (hopefully).

I believe that both Guidry and Herring are draft eligible sophomores.

Is Ack out of eligibility?

Ulloa and Loer may get drafted.

Looks more like a total revamp of the pitching staff and not just finding depth for Sunday.

ETA: This is also Javan Coleman's 4th year (FR year was 2021, so no covid year), he was drafted last year and most probably will be drafted again this year. A return to school will erase any negotiating leverage that he may have.

Not really. Next year you're possibly looking at having Shores, Jump, and Herring as your 3 starters. I believe both Jump and Herring are draft eligible so you may lose them but I think Herring probably comes back and Anderson could be your 3rd starter if Jump is gone. Im expecting Moffett and Johnson to be really good bullpen arms for us as well. You also have Noot back fully healthy. That's a really good start to a pitching staff before even looking at incoming freshmen or transfers

Before the portal we always got elite freshman who pitched in sec play in several of the years. What happened to now? Why rely so heavily on the portal? They don't care about lsu, they care about money. Skenes yeah yeah but seriously , lsu should vest their time into hs kids. Jmo

Wasn't that suppose to be our strong point coming into the year?

You can always think you got good quality pitchers and then they turn to shite like Hurd.

Preseason, we were being touted as having one of the best pitching crews in college baseball with transfers and returns. They just haven't lived up to the hype, like most of the rest of the team. Hurd can't even give a decent showing in relief, must less be a weekend starter that was supposed to be a high 1st round pick this year.

I mean, that's always the case.

In the world we live in, if you aren't finding one starter in the portal (at minimum), you are probably falling behind.in the SEC.
