Santa Fe makes up for the rest of the state.
That's the general consensus...but in my opinion Sante Fe and Alburquerque are the least of New Mexico...they are both the only areas, nearly, that is not unique. And there is too many people. The beauty of New Mexico is the small population outside of those 2 areas....for me at least. Is there anywhere else in the US where you can easily be 20 miles from pavement and not see or hear another human being for days and weeks on end if you are so bent? Alaska I guess. Montana and Wyoming but too much of all three of those are private property....not an issue in New Mexico.
