14 years in power now and very little conservatism in that reign. From campaigning against Brexit, to trying to sabotage Brexit, to mass domestic spying, to draconian Covid shutdowns with a Gavin Newsom policy of exceptions for the political class, to embracing spending on foreign wars, to hollowing out the military, to a budget that’s increased 50%, and so on.

Well…

quote:

The UK Conservative Party has suffered its worst local election defeat in decades, losing more than half of its council seats during this week’s vote in England and Wales. The opposition Labour party saw strong gains, including in key battlegrounds needed to secure victory at the general election, expected to be held later this year. With almost all authorities declared as of Saturday night, the Tories had conceded 473 of their 985 councillors, while Labour had gained 185 council seats to reach a total of 1,140. The Liberal Democrats also made a strong showing, and now have 521 councillors, putting them ahead of the Conservatives for the first time since 1996.

Worst local election results in over 30 years.

So my concern would be if that was conservativism, what kind of liberalism/socialism would the new ruling parties force on its citizens?

i keep up with the Triggernometry, Douglas Murray, Lawrence Fox, and Andrew Doyle crowd a decent amount.

they've made the argument that we've kept Labor and their BSC policies out of power for a decade and the Torries have literally nothing to show for it.

That’s essentially true.

David Cameron was a wasted milquetoast tenure and now he’s back in worse form as a Neocon foreign minister.

Boris was a huge disappointment.

May and Truss are footnotes that were out of their depth.

And Sunak seems completely rudderless.

Not a leader among any of them.

Just listened to a War Room clip from MSNBC featuring Edward Luce (allegedly a conservative Brit) of the famed Financial Times. Luce is warning the American people if Trump returns to the White House it will be so much worse than Trump's first term. Luce says it will be the de facto end of NATO because Trump will force other members to pay their 2%, huge trade war, Global instabilities and war everywhere.

If you don't think the Globalists are freaking out over the potential return of Trump you're not paying, European Globalist Elites are freaking the hell out.

They are going to get pounded whenever Sunak finally accepts the inevitable and calls an election.

What does the role of demographic shits due to immigration play in the liberals winning those seats.

I’ve seen videos of the new candidates and they aren’t British.

I doubt its transformational, as the major cities are already dominated by Labour anyway. Its not like Indians/Pakistanis, etc., are new to the UK.

I think there would be a surge in anti-Conservative voting regardless of results just from party fatigue at this point. They've held power for almost 15 years.
