I didn’t go to ‘clubs’ because they were full of poors making $42k acting like they were rich. Went out to bars

I dont remember there being a huge distinction between “clubs” and “bars”, or “clubbing” vs “barhopping “ back in my party days… The only place i would go maybe once a year that was for sure a club was The Metro or Republic or whatever it was called at the time.. other than that, the lines between club & bar in NOLA were usually kinda blurry .

Most on here won’t know the places because they are in mobile but the edge and banana joes was the spots if you were into x early 00’s

Later on into my 20’s grand central was my go to after I got away from drugs and was a complete degenerate drunk lol.

Tried it and didn't like it. I found most of the people to be far too pretentious for my liking, putting on airs and such.

So many of the guys I saw there would spend just about all their weeks wages trying to impress some girl they thought would go home with them, only to leave with blue balls and empty pockets.

I'm more of a neighborhood bar type. Give me a nice, quiet bar where I can hold a conversation with people without having to yell over music so loud it would have your ears ringing.

The had a club at 4141 St. Charles named Forty One/Forty One. I nicknamed it "Phony One/Phony One because of all the above described characters in my first sentence. I ventured inside that place only twice, and that was about 2 times too many for me.

Same places for me and my baws. Except we didn't go to 4141, etc too much. We preferred the Metairie skanks, Godfather, Southside, Ski Lodge. But we also went to Melius and Barts (the old Barts before it burnt down) quite a bit. Angie De Lagos on Sundays.

I’m going to need to crowdsource this because I couldn’t find anything on the internet, but at present I’m pretty sure it was Opulence, as submitted by supadave3.
I recall a walk in through a non descript door/entrance and up the stairs, opening to a multi room place with all kinds of alcoves on the sides and full balcony access.
And they played The Launch constantly.
And the sun was always shining brightly.

Back in the good ole days, what clubs did you baws hit up? Where were the spots to go in Laffy, BR, NOLA, etc.?

The Keg off of the Mckinley St strip in Lafayette was one of the most known clubs in the entire area back in the day (late 90's). People would drive in from Houston to go there.

Brass Monkey in Paradis.

It is now a chinese restaurant now. One time I went eat there and kept looking on the floor for dropped biscuits.

My dad said in his party days from 85-93ish, he went everywhere with an entourage of people and he said by far the best place in Louisiana was "The Kingfish" near Lafayette. He said clubs would close in New Orleans at 2am and people would make the drive 2hrs to the Kingfish. He said he was there during all the raids etc. He also said many times when they would leave, the Kingfish was still packed and rockin around 9am in the morning after partying all night. He said the "line" to get in as they would walk out was still 50-100 deep on a SUNDAY morning.
