I received the results of the IRS audit of our 2023 filing in the mail today. My wife just scanned it and sent it to me 20 minutes ago. Because of a once in a lifetime event, we fit the description in the article cited. The result of the audit is a little over $800,000 in additional taxes, penalties and interest.

I’m sure our accountants will fight it, and we will probably win because the IRS auditors are nitwits. But they have already begun the ramp up discussed in your source.

Makes sense. Corporations, as well as the rich, need to pay their fair share

Good line.
Nice to know that I just became a "large corporation", as well.

It almost like this exact number is the percentage of companies who donate to conservative causes.

$80 billion here, $100 billion there yet we cannot get $ Billion to secure the borders.
Total breakdown of the US society as we head into total totalitarianism and the Hunger Games with a very small % of corrupt freaks controlling every aspect of our lives.

To hell with all this. Why not just assess a 45% flat tax on all individuals and entities making over 50K per year? We need to close the budget gap, like yesterday!

lolwut? An $800K change?

How did you frick up your return that bad?

I don’t believe you.

ETA: you are 100% lying as the Feds aren’t auditing 2023 returns now.

They’re auditing a guy who works part time in my department. He runs a VERY small fishing charter a few days a week when he isn’t working at the hospital.

Guy probably makes about 90k a year tops in fricking palm beach county and shares a duplex with his mom.

I’m a dentist and I’m the middle of an audit from 2021. It sucks and makes me want to go on a rampage.

Well, this could be great news.

Nancy Pelosi made millions in the last 4 days. She should be a prime target for an audit.

Who am I kidding. She, Joe, Chuck and the turtle are probably lining up auditors to go after Trump before the election.

Tarzana, In the nicest way, you sound like you would be a lot happier in a communist or heavily socialized country. You might be more fulfilled there

The IRS has "no change" audits all the time. They will not frick with you endlessly to find something that is not there.

Just because they didn’t in the past doesn’t mean that they won’t going forward.

Well when you blow your wad on Ukraine, you gotta squeeze more from somewhere. I'm sure the terrorist protestors on our campus' won't mind tho.
