Because the likelihood of getting a big who can hit a 3 and be a starter playing 28+ minutes is slim, but that doesn't mean you should just punt on the position and be shitty at it just because you can't get a big who can shoot the 3. I don't follow your logic here.

I agree it's not easy to find that guy.
It also doesn't mean we should give up Herb to get a guy that we dont need to give up Herb to get.
I"m not punting the position. It just makes no sense to give up Herb to get Allen when there are other options at that position that can give you what Allen would give this team. Notice how i said what Allen would give this team, and not "are just as good as Allen". I fully acknowledge he's a really good 5. One of if not the best non shooting 5 in the league.

I gave you a list of several guys who are good enough defenders for our team at the 5, some of which are easily attainable by us without giving up Herb.
Give me your list of guys that can do what Herb does as an elite defensive wing.
I'm not moving Herb so CJ can be our starting SG. That does not make us better. Jarrett Allen can not cover up defensively for CJ in the playoffs.

I'm ok with replacing BI with Trey.
I'm not ok with CJ being the PG if that happens.
I'm also not ok with CJ taking Herbs spot either.

Our new starting lineup should be PG/Herb/Trey/Zion/C
If CJ is the PG to start the season, fine, but id' expect to deal him at the trade deadline, which is kind of what most of us expected when we resigned him anyway.
