Bigger issue that wall and chain link fence issue needs to be fixed.

It cost Jared Jones a HR last year

The kid learned a lesson at a very minimal cost. Move on to today

Guess what eventually happened to the Steve Bartman ball. A restaraunt bought the ball and eventually ground it up and served it to patrons in spaghetti sauce. Not kidding.

Can someone who sits in left field regularly take a picture tonight with their elbows on the rail reaching over with arms extended so we can get an idea of it was realistically possible?

Thanks. You saw it all but umps must have better cameras because call on field was a home run. To me there was no clear view to overturn it. All stadiums should fix stadiums to where that cannot happen. Fans will be fans

Look what it takes to get over the wall. It takes fully committing and leaning over at the waist

Now look at the fan. He is on his heels leaning back with barely his forearm over the chain fence. He isn’t over the wall

This discussion is in regard to THIS game and we just happen to have an eye witness that was 20 feet away when the play occurred. That's a unique vantage point and I'll take the eye witness account.

Do you think they moved the stands closer to the field for this game?

A few weeks ago I could have absolutely done the same thing but pulled my hand back at the last second when realized it was going to hit between wall and fence. My friend sent me a screen shot of it and lots more made fun of me for not catching the HR.
We've(my brothers tickets) been out there since 96. I started coming in 2001. We've always known better than to reach over the fence. But It finally fricking happened.

My BIL and niece have seasons tickets in center field and said that boy is a home run ball hustler and has been for years. He runs to the area each home run is hit trying to catch it no matter where it's hit.

That chain link bleacher fence sits away from the wall. His body would have to be leaning against/over it for his glove to even have a chance to be in the field of play, and there was no replay that showed that was the case.

I agree. There is a gap between the wall and the fence. You cannot see that gap by looking straight at it (no depth perception). Horrible camera angle. But that’s the only picture the umps have to go by.

There really needs to be a camera looking down along the fence line. Cameras are cheap. LSU should invest in that along both outfield sides.

All I know is that video of Bigfoot is clearer than what Birmingham used make that interference call. Should have never happened.

It's not a big deal.

1) He's a kid
2) We won

So all is good.

It would be different if a grown adult did this though.

There’s another thread that shows the gap. The gap does not look that big at all.

That said, if he doesn’t touch the ball, I am almost 100 percent sure the ball hits the top of the wall on the yellow line and is a home run.
No it doesn't. Was there too and you are wrong.

This all seems like a gray area that needs some clarification.

If the fan is from the visiting team would that have made it a HR? If our fans interfere with vistor's hit? What if fans start throwing gloves at a playable ball in flight? A visiting fan could do that? What if Aggie fans blow bubbles in a player's face?
