Idealogically both parties ran for the fringes. Reagan would be a RINO according to Trump standards.

One of the best attributes of a dominant two-party political system is that its keeps the true nutjobs out of Congress.
But when you have Illian Omar and Lauren Boebert and AOC and Marjorie Taylor Greene and Cori Bush and the little guy in a wheelchair from North Carolina representing entire congressional districts, that's a dead giveaway tht's someting wrong.
