We're now going to put the off campus deaths of two girls that were totally unrelated to campus dealings on the president now? Look, I don't want to go down this road because it's not the right board, but this is a stupid thing to say and has nothing to do with LSU operations.

Tate, despite writing a CRT dissertation 20 years ago, has been great.

He was finally been a champion of Greek life

He has completely taken DEI language and policies away from multiple departments

He denounced the efforts of F.King regarding the movement to change names and history of lsus past (Middleton etc)

He has embraced south la culture in public campaigns and fundraising efforts instead of denouncing it

Of course not. I never said that. His response and reaction to it is certainly his fault.

How, specifically?

There's no indication that supports that Tate has been below average.

Research dollars have been healthy (record breaking research inflows in 2023), and the exposure of those research dollars have been far reaching (student and faculty awards). The transformation of LSU to step into and become a serious player in Cybersecurity has been amazing to see. Our students are kicking arse across multiple disciplines.

Attendance has been healthy, and ever increasing. And our graduation rates have been supporting that as well (about to graduate our largest class ever; initiative to attract and retain Louisiana grown talent).

I'm not going to pretend we're not without flaws...but we are trending in a great way. Tate has been visible, accessible to students, faculty, and donors...and it's working. Let's not try and make an issue out of nothing, because Tate has been a bright spot the past 3 years for our institution.

This is not the board for this debate, so this will be my last post on the topic, unless it is restarted elsewhere.

Greek life at LSU is in its worst condition in my lifetime

There's a huge backlash around DEI politically and he knows it. So all the DEI has just changed names to Division of Engagement, Civil Rights & Title IX. Same animal, different stripes. Also many of the individual departments are still calling it DEI. These departments employee dozens of people with total salaries in the millions of dollars.

The name is still changing, so who cares what he says?

This is meaningless.

Nothing you have mentioned moves LSU forward or improves it. You have listed a bunch of pandering nonsense.

. I guarantee you Landry won't be on the news saying there may be no LSU football if we don't pass his agenda.

Did you miss that whole episode where he quadrupled down on revoking scholarships for players not out for the anthem?

Tate was instrumental is getting their latest fundraising campaign complete 3 years earlier than expected. And I believe he did that in his first year.

Tate has brought some significant resources to the table in his short time here. He has brought big research dollars and has laid out an ambitious plan for more. He was making significant headway in recruiting talented professors and research folks to LSU from Fla and Texas Universities, where performative political antics by DeSantis and Abbott have created havoc in sate universities (including but not limited to tenure issues).
Tate is now facing the same sort of antics from Landry, who could care less if LSU suffers while he gains a few cheap political points. The WBB dispute over their absence during the national anthem should give you a good idea of what we are in for with Landry.
We are light years better with Tate than F King but Landry will blunt his effectiveness.

He showed his arse early - just like JBE . Don't frick with LSU. I was willing to give both a chance and they both lost me early in their tenure because of it. I was done with JBE when he threatened LSU if his taxes didn't pass, and I was done when Landry went look at me pandering without the facts and aimed it at LSU.

The governor appoints the board. The board does his bidding. It's the same fricking thing.

Kinda like Obama then Biden.

I’ve always been confused about this ‘flagship’ hang up we have. You saying that ‘ULL will now be the first established research-intensive public university in Louisiana’? How could that happen?

Even if you’re just thinking about current investment, the majority of LSUs research grants and interests are not funded through the state in any way.
