Who said not to worry? We’ve known when it comes down to it since NIL was introduced that LSU doesn’t have the war chest when it’s nut cutting time

Let’s say he’s at $800k-1 million is that juice really worth the squeeze or clearly just the market?

He will deserve it. It’ll prove he’s not an “insider” once and for all.

Kelly better deliver us 1-2 DTs. He promised we’d compete in year 3 and he promised DT help a month ago.

It's not unique to just Iota. We truly dont have insiders. This board is addictive bc of the intense reactions and all over the place posts. But at the end of the day we all know that nobody on this board knows anything. Heck, we probably have the worst 247 and on3 insiders in the sport and they actually collect a paycheck

When you’re main position of need has this kind of talent in the mix, you pony up. The defense will suck arse once more.

While NIL contracts are, in essence, "pay for play" contracts, they aren't employment contracts. Everything you are saying should be allowed IS allowed. A coach can dismiss a player from the team at any time.

Nope. Bad take

The critical element missing is that you can’t sign new players during the season to replace the ones who are being cut.

I agree more with the poster you responded to because of this. This needs to start being treated as a job so that the “employers” will be less powerless. They should be able to fire and hire players at anytime (especially during the regular season).

Problem is he will know what Williams got and probably won’t take a penny less, hell he might want more

There has never been a better time to be an average to slightly above average player. Due to desperation, some of those guys are going to get much larger pay days than their ability probably warrants.

I could see a situation where a really good player already on your team, with a history of production for you, has an NIL package of, say, $150k getting a bit miffed watching a lesser player, who has done nothing for your team, get a $300k NIL package SOLELY based upon the staffs' desperation for a player at that position.

I don't think it is as much a situation that LSU can't pay, as much as it is they don't want to overpay and potentially create a rift within the team.

This was always about the money for these DT's. All this BS about best coaching staff is just talking points. They went into the portal for a pay day! That is it.

Edit: And if they were really good they would have declared for the draft this year. Nope, they are average at best and late round picks at best. It's crazy that these DT's are going to paid that kind of money. The schools that do pay are going to have issues with current players.

That's way too much money and super desperate. I know the going rate was said to be $750k. If they lose this one then it's all in on Barrow.
I've been quiet, but I honestly want Barrow more anyway. Well, I wanted both but realistically never expected both. Landing Barrow has become an absolute must now.

A million dollars is absurd, he's not some generational talent. I am surprised OU has that kind of money to throw around considering they were calling OU oil execs in Texas begging for NIL donations last year. Demarco Murray called my friends boss multiple times saying they are really hurting trying to keep up in the NIL race.

Do you think you get donors to give money if you just tell them 'Hey we're all good, we don't really need any help'?

Now we're gonna have to hear about how Bo is going to develop what is currently on the roster and how Barrow is more of a fit.

I am not saying Bo isn't and I love him as the DL coach but the narrative changing after the positivity is clockwork
