For real. The idea that eating out at restaurants is cheaper than going to the grocery store is so stupid that I thought only Paul Allen thought th

I know that it actually isn't. My comment was kind of tongue on cheek pointing out how ridiculous prices have gotten at the grocery store lately. Just today I bought a whole bird that was almost $11 when I could have got a rotisserie bird from the deli for $8. It's the same shite with ribs. I can get them already smoked from the deli for cheaper than I can get them raw.

Did you buy from Calandro's/Calvin's? No reason you should pay that much for any of those things even at Rouse's. You can get unseasoned chicken wings from Albertsons for $4/lb. Unless you're buying a damn farm, you're pulling numbers out of your arse OR buying from "local" who want to charge you an arm and a leg just so they can pay for advertising through Baton Rouge radio.

I don't live in Louisiana. Perhaps prices are different where you're at, but I wouldn't think they'd be that different.

Torchy's Tacos had family packs during covid to make your own tacos. We would get that, plus queso and salsa, and the price was pretty decent. Looks like now they offer party packs good to make about 20 tacos, but you have to check with each location for price.

This is the truth. The other day I went to the grocery store and got two packages of chicken wings, a bag of charcoal, a six-pack of miller lite, and some pimento cheese and it cost me almost $60. I couldn't fricking believe it when that price rang up.

Just plugging this into the Walmart Grocery website and it's literally $35.

For uncooked wings? Do you only shop at Whole Foods?

Outback has a decent one.

quote:

4 Center-cut Sirloins. Center-cut for tenderness. Served with a family-style salad (Caesar or House), 2 family-style sides (choice of Aussie Fries, Mixed Veggies & Mashed Potatoes), and 2 of our signature Honey Wheat Breads
.

It's $55. You can get it with 6 sirloins and 3 sides for $80.

Use the Google. Check out the national average for uncooked chicken wings. Last I saw it was actually under $3/#. Your "local grocer" is bending you over for those wings.

When's the last time you bought wings, man?

Last week, $2.99 a pound, and not at walmart even though there's absolutely nothing wrong with wings from walmart

Whole Foods

We only ever buy stuff at Whole Foods that you normally can't buy at stores (which isn't a lot of things) or something that we see on sale. Their produce is about the same, if not a tiny bit higher than elsewhere. There is a better feeling about what I'm buying from Whole Foods in that department. Meat and fish are incredibly expensive, probably great quality, but I can't justify spending a lot on fresh meat regularly. I stick with frozen and previously frozen/wild caught fish at Costco.

People don’t know how to shop. Sure things are high but in no way is it close to more expensive as eating out.

If youre paying $7/lb anywhere in the US, youre very much overpaying and not shopping smart at all. The only place I can imagine paying that much would be some farmers market where you overpay for everything because youre 'buying local'

Can confirm after going to Costco, they have seasoned garlic chicken wings (around 30+) for $4/lb.

The mezza platter from Albasha is the best hands down. It's so darn good.
