For a cruise I would suggest a carry-on duffle with backpack straps to maximize your cabin storage space that can be carried a few different ways.
I personally can't stand spinner luggage and for my carry-on I want ease of use so I want a few pockets on the outside I can easily access for things like magazines, eye mask, snacks, travel docs, etc. so that rules out most bi-fold luggage pieces.
A duffel can be stored a bit more easily and be used throughout your trip (either as a pool bag or in port if/when needed) to carry any souvenirs or crafts you may buy.
