Sean Paytons arrogance has doomed the Broncos

Listening to Russelo yesterday, it's apparent that only the Broncos (Payton) had a first round grade on Bo Nix. Payton could have easily traded down and gotten a high second round pick (maybe even another first) and still landed Nix, but his attitude was "frick it" - he wants to prove how smart he is.
It's kind of the same shite that manifested itself here in smaller ways over and over again. Stupid challenges out of anger that were doomed to fail, trick plays that were too cute and failed, aggressive trades up and risky FA signings - future be damned.
Last year Sean started his first ever Broncos game with a surprise onside kick.. It failed, the Raiders scored on a short field, and the Broncos lost by a point.
As mediocre as DA is, I'm really glad we don't have this imbecile running our team anymore.
Imagine spending a 12th overall pick on a dude who wasn't ranked in the top 50 players by the majority of teams.

No one could possibly know this
I'm a firm believer that you trust your own grades, and if you want a player, you take him. You can't know what will happen
And you may be wrong, and then you get fired

I appreciate what Sean did for us, but I attribute most of our success to Brees.

Nix kept getting some comparisons to Brees pre draft and I don't get that at all. Maybe it's the ability to process information but as far as passing the football they're not even close at the college level. Brees was chucking it all over the yard while Nix had a bunch of short passes turned into long gains by the receiver. Occasionally he would let a deep ball rip and hit it but just not nearly as often as Brees.
As for coach Payton, he definitely held the players to a high standard and I think he commanded more respect than Dennis does but you're right he would make some bone-headed decisions he wasn't perfect.
A pet peeve of mine was that he burned timeouts just to get the perfect play in. DA at least hold on to the timeouts until the end of the game usually.

I love Payton but his comments about “baiting Minnesota” to trade up just goes to show how he cares just as much about proving how smart and right he is as he does actually winning.
I think his arrogance and pride cost us some additional titles with Brees

bad take. You don't frick around not taking the qb that you deem you want. You draft him. fricking penix went 8. They were in no position to play chicken.

At this point, the concerted planned attack by the NFL, its associates, its assigns, and its useful idiots is proof that the NFL fixed the no call game and contrived bountygate to mitigate concussion lawsuits.
The NFL must continue to malign CSP at every step of the way as an arrogant villain in order to coverup its own wrongdoings.
By demonizing an individual, it is no more than projection in hiding the fact that the NFL did select one team and one coach to take the fall by showing all the world that the players themselves were paying to injure themselves.
CSP will never be allowed to truly ever succeed in the NFL again. He is the black hat and the NFL is the white hat.
The subliminal projection is that the NFL did not fix the Rams Saints game with 4 Southern California refs and the Saints and CSP didn’t deserve to win a Superbowl because they are bountygate cheaters.

He panicked. Thought Raiders were gonna take Nix.
I don't think they would have and he could have easily found a trade partner in the 20's who didn't need a QB

He can certainly be hard headed and arrogant, but I would take him back right now.

He had no qbs on his roster and couldn't let a team poach another qb ahead of him
He had just seen Atlanta take a qb way ahead of predictions. So yes he too was drafted higher than expected. His job is on the line and he knows it.

When will this board stop talking about Sean Payton? I honestly could care less what the Broncos do.

Between Sean’s milky way galaxy sized ego and hubris and Loomis’s false bravado it’s a wonder we had any recent success those last few years

I feel sorry for all their QB's. Payton doesn't develop QB's. He lucked out landing Brees, but not with R Wilson. He needs to hire an experienced QB coach off the Tree of Andy Reid, Shanahan, or McVay.

Doubtful. The Raiders were also looking for a QB but none were left for them.
