I mean...............probably, but we wouldn't have all we have if we weren't in the SEC. Facilities, coaches salaries, or talent.
The more telling stat is the last three NCAA champions didn't make it to post season play. When you play that long other teams get the jump with portal and off-season. It seems to be part of the game now.

Texas A&M is irrelevant to this conversation. It doesn't matter what their OOC SOS is because they are dominating everyone. Just because A&M plays a weak OOC schedule too, doesn't make ours strong.

These past 2 weekends are a pretty good measure of who we are. We were in very close battles and barely took 2 of 3 against 2 teams that are well below average
I agree we aren’t very good. But it’s not like Missouri and auburn are laying down for other SEC schools. Plenty of them had close and extra inning games against them. They aren’t a bunch of loser players. Good teams win the close games, but it’s not like these guys get blown out every game in conference.

Even if you think it. Even if you believe it. Even if its true. You don't say that Jay, it makes you look petty and desperate.

That’s actually a good point…there’s probably some logic/truth to that in the current landscape.
That said, baseball schools with the resources of LSU, MissSt, OleMiss really shouldn’t ever be missing the tournament. Those programs and fans, rightfully so, should be disappointed and frustrated when it misses postseason play. And I’m sure those coaches would agree as well that missing the tournament is not acceptable.

I don’t think it’s a very good point at all. What transfer targets did LSU lose out on because they were competing for a national championship?

Geez Jay, just say “most”. When you say “every” it’s not a good look.

I doubt he was that concerned with what others think of a singular word. Nor should he be.

Yeah I don’t think that was/is LSU’s issue at all, just speaking more generally overall I could see that affecting teams in the current landscape.

He didn't say it was strong. He said it was decent.
Yesterday you said this..." Schools like Florida Texas A&M, Wake Forest, etc can boost their resume by winning midweek games against good competition. We can’t do that." So I just took a peak at A&M to see how we compared, which btw you just said " Just because A&M plays a weak OOC schedule too, doesn't make ours strong."
So which is it? I'm confused here.
Anywho, moving on...
Florida has had a hell of an out-of-conference schedule but those teams are few and far between. When you look at the out-of-conference in detail Florida has played about 8 games against teams that are projected to make the NCAA tournament where LSU is at 5. The other crappy irrelevant teams Florida had on their schedule are having decent years in their crappy irrelevant conferences and the ones on LSU's schedule are not.
Wake Forest by my count, has played 2 games against Coastal Carolina which is the only team projected to make the tournament.
So what it comes down to when you look at SOS is this...
WF has a strong out-of-conference schedule because teams like High Point have 24 wins on the season. Because teams like North Dakota State have only won 13 games LSU doesn't even have a "decent" out-of-conference schedule even though Xavier, Texas, and ULL are all projected to make the tournament.
Reality is, that it's a flawed way of understanding the bigger picture. The other reality is that LSU has had a decent out-of-conference schedule and you are wrong, as usual.
Edit: Just wondering...are you a female by any chance?

That’s fine but it’s disappointing coming from the coach of a team, whose veteran hitters haven’t shown any plate discipline whatsoever, leave people on base frequently, and are always swinging for the fences instead of getting some traffic going. I get that this is for PR, but the players need some real talk not mommy telling them that they are still her special little guys. Hard to do that when you’re saying this to the media.

I like Jay and didn't listen to the actual recording so I'm hoping this was taken out of context but if not please don't say shite like this. This is LSU. LSU baseball should never make excuses like this for not performing to the LSU standard. This makes us sound weak.

Oh boy. That is the kind of quote that will follow you around forever.

Alright, I shouldn’t have said Texas A&M. They are irrelevant to this conversation. Florida is more relevant. They are in a similar situation as us as far as struggling in conference play. But they can use their OOC SOS to help their argument. We can’t. I was just pointing out that there are other teams that could use their OOC SOS to help their case if they were in a similar situation as us. Us saying “but look at our OOC record” doesn’t help much. Hunt Palmers talked about it yesterday when LSU was left out of the postseason in 2011. They went 13-17 in conference play but were left out and part of the committees reasoning was because 6 of those wins came against Kentucky and Tennessee which were the 2 worst teams in the SEC.
Weren’t you just arguing yesterday that ULL shouldn’t make the tournament?

I do not believe I ever said ULL should be left out. I was making the argument that it's hard to not consider LSU one of the 64 best teams and more should be taken into consideration than just their conference schedule. I just used ULL as a comparison of being one of the 64 best.
The only teams that I dont think should be in a regional is any crap teams that have a stupid record and somehow get hot and win their crappy conference tournament. I'm not sure if its a typo but baseball America has North Dakota State in with an automatic bid and they currently have a losing overall record. I'm not saying keep a team like Lamar out who has had a great season and deserves a shot.
BTW if that isnt a typo and NDSU actually makes it in the tournament you can increase LSU out-of-conference win total over tournament teams to 7 instead of 5.

We’d probably be 3rd in the ACC but otherwise he’s right. Conference record is given way too much weight.
