I actually think Ed was the most talented musician from LS. Steve was an incredible guitar player and a better showman, but Ed was a gifted composer, some of the most memorable stuff came from him. They leaned on him early for song ideas in the studio.
I do think RVZ learned from how he treated Ed King by the way he seemed to be grooming and showcasing Gaines.

That actually is a fun fact.
RVZ always seemed like a peaceful person, but certainly had the drive and ambition to take a band out of a garage and to the mainstream. Back when they did what they did… you had to earn it the hard way to get your music out. It takes a madman (somewhat) to drive that train.

I really wasn't aware of his impact/talent until I started to try and play his Free Bird bassline perfectly.
