I toss that up to Daniel Craig playing a caricature of a southerner.

Ewan McGregor's Alabama piedmont accent in Big Fish was pretty darn good.

Contrast that with Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias. Broad is from Smyrna, GA, and sounds like she's never even spent time south of Boston.

The "New Orleans accents in the NOLA scenes in Double Jeopardy.

Also the horrible "southern" accents in Steel Magnolias was pretty terrible as well.

I have never heard any southern accents sound good to be honest.

Pretty sure he's doing Foghorn Leghorn.

The Bonfire of the Vanities. The film version of this is the worst adaptation of a novel I've ever seen

It does however have the immortal moment when Melanie Griffith is driving through the ghetto and says: "Ah'm from the South, and Ah'm beginnin' tuh naht lahk thess."

The thread is over. You may go home now.

Hot take, but Jude Law's accent in Cold Mountain isn't that bad.

The longer it goes, the more I think that was intentional. Benoit Blanc is damned-near Foghorn Leghorn.

IYKYK....

Also, watching House of Cards and Kevin Spacey's south carolina accent is really getting on my nerves.

I was about to post The Big Easy. Those accents are cringeworthy.

Also I nominate Alex Baldwin for his phony accent as Dave Robicheaux in Heaven's Prisoners.

Vivian Leigh as Scarlett in GWTW did a pretty good job for a Brit.

It's particularly bad when you consider that Gaffney is in the Upstate, and by definition is more Appalachian. Whatever Spacey is trying to do is more akin to the Lowcountry.

NOLA accents are closer to NYC/NJ accents...

...yet Hollywood has mysteriously always given NOLA characters "Suthun" accents like they were from a plantation in "Rowl-lee, Nawth Care-oh-line-ahh" but yet will still give those same characters cajun add-on dialogue, like "Fais do-do" or "Mon, Cher". It's laughable.
