Once upon a time in the late 2000’s, Arena football was the real spring/summer league. ESPN made it a big deal and I think I remember Mike and Mike calling games.

That's actually what killed it. When it was on NBC they showed games on the weekends and made it feel important (which NBC does better than anyone). And all the teams were on regional sports networks as well so you could watch damn near everything.

ESPN bought all the rights, showed one game a week on Monday nights with an occasional Saturday thrown in. They bought a stake in the league then proceeded to hide in from everyone. It was odd.

ESPN is pretty much the one who killed it

NBC is what made it have the marginal success that it did have in the mid 2000s
