Penix was a better passer than Murray and Murray isn’t that better athletically to make up for that.

Murray didn’t have the injury issues of Penix nor was he a six year player, meaning he had more growth potential.
It all still comes down to blowing a high pick on a guy who isn’t helping you for quite a while unless your expensive new signee is completely fricked.
There would have been more value in either finding offensive support for Cousins or one of the best defensive players on the board than doing this.

Murray ran for 1000 yards in one season, Penix 265 in 6 years and has 2 bad knees. I don’t have a problem with Penix, it was a stupid pick for Atlanta because they just signed Cousins, but Murray and Mayfield were definitely better prospects

Murray’s athletic ability more than makes up for any perceived passing “gap”.
Penix is a bit of a statue who panics when pressured.
