That doesn’t look outlandish for an airport in general, much less an airport nearly 2,500 miles from the nearest major landmass.

Eta: And the DFT20 on the receipt likely means the beers were 20oz pours.

Reminds me of the sports bar at the Marriott in downtown Houston. 28 dollars for an over cooked hamburger.

So if he has burgers, fries, and a water it would’ve been under $30. That seems fairly on brand for airports.

Add in two $14 beers, a coke, and a bowl of ramen and it makes sense that the bill more than doubles.

What jumps out the most to me is the tax is less than 5%, seems very low, especially for a blue state + tourist area.

The prices themselves are not bad at all for an airport.

I realized if I intermittent fast when I travel I can save a hundred dollars and several pounds that can be spent on higher quality experiences when I get to my destination.

It’s never surprising how hard corporations pull when they have you by the short hairs, same as the government.

No not really. It's a premiere tourist destination and it's an island in the middle of the Pacific ocean. People with lots of money looking to spend + high costs of obtaining goods = expensive shite

Thats not too bad - the ramen is actually underpriced.

Beers are most egregious but only by a couple bucks each.
