Alabama

Its the middle of the south
It was a cotton state
It has gulf coast and Appalachians
It has a major city
It has space age tech
It has big Mfg.
It has Nascar
It has great hunting and fishin,
And goo foobaw...

Im from LA, but let's be realistic...

Whats more southern than FloraBama? (Southernmost point don't count) not Venice, LA

South Carolina.

We call North Carolinians "yankees," because they are.

We fired the first shot last time, and we're likely to do it again.

We're a well educated genteel people.

Highest per capita rate of veteran retirees.

Highest per capita rate of stoic males and beautiful females.

We all just get along.

It's a known fact.

Alabama for sure. Followed by Mississippi.

From top to bottom these two stand out culturally.

There's a reason they call Alabama the "Heart of Dixie".

It’s Mississippi.

In the Deep South
Completely surrounded by deep red states
Unhealthy food is a religion
Rivals West Virginia for poorest state

The state’s flagship university, the Ole Miss Rebels, boasts two offensive names in one.

I’d have to say that South Carolina is in strong consideration Nikki Haley excepted

Alabama deserves consideration

Louisiana is not because it has strong cultural influences from Caribbean, French and Spanish that overshadow the typical Anglo influence

New Orleans has become overwhelmingly Afro centric which is southern but probably not along the lines of what the OP intended

I think it's La. The Basin area with the coonasses. We're the only of our kind in the world. There's rednecks everywhere.....whether it's Alabama, Miss, Florida or Arkansas.
