South Carolina and Alabama, used to be Georgia but we've been overtaken by carpetbaggers.

Tie - Tennessee and Sout Carolina.
These are the states that have changed the least over the last 100 - 150 yrs. They are followed closely by Alabama and Mississippi.
Other southern states have encountered either the growth of a large liberal city or migration of northerns to their state, that have affected their "southerness".

Depends on what you mean by southern. Southern culture isn't monolithic. The upper south (KY, NC, VA, TN) is different culture wise than the gulf south. But if you're talking just general blanket stereotypical southern, it's Alabama.

Key West is actually closer to the equator than it is Canada, so I will say Florida.

I think if North Florida and South Georgia ever got together, it would be the most southern state of all. The capitol would be Jacksonville and frigging Valdosta would be the geographic hub

For better and for worse, I think it’s pretty clearly Alabama. And I both love and hate it for that very reason.

Whichever has the highest demographics of blacks ironically. So MS or LA.

This is a stupid question. Being southern is mostly state individuality. So each area is unique in ways which makes it southern in its own way. South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and parts of Texas and Florida are all considered the deep south.

Lowest median income and highest % black would prob be a good metric to use as most Southern. So LA, MS, AL I would say are top 3.

I’d say Alabama and Mississippi like most have said on here. 20 years ago Tennessee and S Carolina would be in the mix but white liberals fleeing what they voted for have taken them out. Surprised Arkansas isn’t higher up here. There is some old southern democrat feel but still very southern although white liberals fleeing what they voted for up north and California are invading NW Arkansas
