Think about what you are saying. Is Baton Rouge the entity that owns things or is it its citizens? The former B.R., now St. George, citizens paid for the assets and will receive nothing for free.
This philosophy, that a government is a person, is pernicious. The origin of government is the beneficial banding together of people to share common burdens. Here, B.R. no longer serves that purpose and it is time to unband--leave.

Isn’t this EXACTLY why St. George was formed? To remove itself from Baton Rouge?

The former residents paid taxes like everyone else. Their dollars were not separated to pay for only the things they wanted to pay for. That’s not how taxes work.
