New bonds will have to be issued (new debt obligations), which will lead to new millages being proposed, which will increase folks taxes. It's weird to see folks one day talk about cutting spending and smaller government, and then the very next day championing more government and higher taxes

You do realize that the City/Parish was required to put all tax monies that would have been St. George's into escrow since the filing of the notification of the petition. So the City will not be going from a standing start. It will have a shitton of $ to start with.

Pretty sure the parish was supposed to budget from 2019 to present based on StG either existing or not existing.

Those numbers are either so bad they are hiding them or they don’t exist. And given how the state treats taxpayers who don’t turn in taxes (estimates based on past history), BR could end up paying more than they intended if they can’t show evidence of those budgets.

Are you sure that's true?

I thought the city-parish was successful in stopping that (but that's only a vague recollection).
