They keep bringing up other cities of comparable size to wreck the budget, but unless you know which services cities provide to their citizens you can’t compare.

For instance SG won’t be providing parks, recreation, EMS, library, Mosquitto and rodent control, or utility services. Wr get those services from the parish or from private companies.

Which is why such a change was feasible to begin with.


City of BR offers no services to StG.

The parish offers most services to StG and they are not leaving the parish.

Water, gas, and a number of other utilities are all private rather than municipal.

Policing is handled by EBRPSO

Fire is handled by St George FD and Eastside FD.


StG, OTOH, was having tens of millions swept into the general fund to pay BR’a bills such as BRPD and BRFD’s budget for areas that they don’t service.
