Let's put a wall around it AND make all roads leading into St George a TOLL ROAD.

We are right on the edge of the boundary, but on the BR side. I'm happy for y'all though. BR needed a slap in the face.

So how will this effect students living in St George that currently go to EBR schools in EBR ? I know this will take long while to sort out but curious what if any plans have been discussed.

Awesome…

That’ll make it the 4th or 5th largest city in the state…

Is there a way to petition to get a single house moved into St. George? Asking for a friend.

Good.

Glad people are trying to improve their neighborhood and take control over their own city instead of just moving to a suburb.

If they find success or failure from here on….it’s entirely on them.

As a non-Louisiana resident, are the circumstances of St. George completely unique? Or are there other similar areas across the state that may incorporate in response?

Glad to see that the will of the voters is being observed, haven't read the opinion yet but what is the amount that Baton Rouge has to give St. George

As someone who isn't living in BR, why the hell does this even matter? So what, you get your own town. That doesn't change much. Still paying taxes that go to the poor through state income taxes. Property values stay the same as there is no change in neighborhood demographics, just on a large scale by separating two cities, but no one is transferring houses. They can still drive through the area. The only thing this changes are some census data on wikipedia pages.

This won’t help Baton Rouge but they brought it on themselves with poor government.

Getting the go ahead should never have taken this long after the vote passed. I can't wait to move there after my stepdaughter finishes Zachary High in four years.

This is great news, but it never should have been dragged out this long by Broome and local judges. StG has a much more difficult job due to long delay, BR picking spots to annex, troublemakers being pushed into area or right next to it, governing since by parish/metro council & its President, and the feeling by many residents of StG that it was not going to happen due to politics causing some to make other plans.

It’s reminds a little of what I have been told about the BakerISD being delayed too long by Judge Parker and then additional issues with EBR district on taking control of schools causing many to give up and move which helped to sink BakerISD to what it has become. The BakerISD that finally elected a school board in 1999 and officially took complete control in 2003 was not made up of same students or involved residents when it was initially voted into existence I think in 1991 (years may be off a little).
