How long would you stand in line to see Mona Lisa?

It's not a line 250,000 people long. You essentially move through the museum looking at all the art and get to it at some point then move past it. It's not like a queue at disney world.

First time seeing it? Maybe like 15-20 minutes. After that? 1-2 minutes. It's underwhelming.

I thankfully didn't at all.... the Lourve is massive...so massive its truley impossible to see all of it in 1 day.... we made the mistake or I guess good love of actually looking at all the exhibits snd thinking we'd just happen on the Mona lisa...we eventually heard over the loud speaker the museum was closing in 5 minutes... we were still at that point about a 5 minute jog away from it...made it as they were closing the exhibit...they let us out of breath in for a second to snap a pic, but we were basically alone.

Went to the MET over the summer and they have a collection of Van Gogh thought it’d be cool to see starry night.
Walked into the room and noped right out after seeing the mass of people huddled around a picture you can pull up on your phone.
Went to the arms and armor section and the Greek/roman/egyptian wings and had a much better time.

Luckily when I went to the louvre we got there when it opened so we went and waited in line for maybe 5 minutes and by the time we finished the line was already getting crazy.

We went with a tour guide. They had an entrance for tour groups off to the side of the main entrance. We got in pretty fast considering how long the main line was.
But we only had 3 hours to see the entire museum. The group around the Mona Lisa wasn’t too bad. The painting itself is definitely underwhelming. With all the hype behind the painting, you’d expect it to be a huge painting. But nope, it’s barely a life size portrait.
Now the Sistine Chapel is a different story. It’s not as big as you expect. But it’s amazing.

Zero minutes. The Mona Lisa has always seemed like something that people say you should give a shite about but isn’t special at all. Whatever building it is put in is more impressive.

I didn't stand in line. I just went in the room it was in and used my zoom to take a picture.
Honestly there are much more impressive paintings at the Louvre than that one.

We just walked up to it and looked at it for a bit. There was a crowd around it but it was easy to see. No big deal.

Its really small, its behind glass, and there are about 300 chinese people between you and it.
Is it worth seeing? Yes. But there are MUCH more impressive things to see in the Louvre.
And the D'Orsay is better than the Louvre anyway if you're in Paris.

The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays - years ago I was in Paris for a day… on Tuesday

I went in December one year. The museums were mostly empty. Had no wait time.
I always tell people. If you want to see the museums in Paris go in the winter time when there are not many tourist, you will have no lines.
I have been back to France in the spring and summer and enjoyed all the outdoor activities. It’s the only way to do it, if you want to go there.

I wouldn't stand in line to got the louvre in general. But I'm not an art person and would much rather spend my time and money outdoors

I can honestly say that a painting has never moved me in any way. The most it will ever get from me is “Hmm. That’s kinda cool.”
Waste of time. Would not wait in line.
