Let's make it a die-in. It's too important to turn our backs on 116 years of injustice and oppression.

That looks like the amount of players we had left in the ‘22 Texas bowl vs Kansas St

The irony here is the NCAA recognizes this as a national championship for LSU but LSU does not.

I know we don't want to be like Bama and claim 50 championships, but 1908 is right there to claim. We really should do it.

Live tonight on the news at 10 pm:
Dozens of colleges are having pro Hamas demonstrations. In other news LSU students hold a demonstration over the unrecognized 1908 collegiate national champions.

I was told, by oldtimers back in the 1960s (I was a kid and those guys were in their 70's), that our 1908 team had multiple players who were paid somehow for playing or weren't even LSU students at the time. Anyone else heard something like that? The implication was that LSU wasn't going to officially claim that title due to those questions.

Was Reggie Bush on that squad?

I have, that sounds like NIL over 100 years before it became legal. But it wasn't at the time, that's probably why it's not officially recognized.

Ok, so to be fair:
Harvard was undefeated with nine wins ( a tie) and out scored its opponents 132 to 8.
This situation, with both LSU AND Harvard with undefeated records gives Alabama the perfectly reasonable argument that it should be named as Champion at 6-1-1.
Bama has made weaker arguments than this for Championships, which it now seeks to trace back to the Protestant Revolution.

Guys. Get a life. No one cares about 1908 outside of this message board

One of Bama’s “18” championships is 1941.
Alabama finished the season 9-2 overall, 5–2 in the SEC and with a victory in the Cotton Bowl Classic over Texas A&M. They claim the national championship due to its selection as national champion by the Houlgate System.
The Houlgate System was a college football ranking method based on strength of schedule that was syndicated nationally in the 1930s through 1950s.

And we make fun of them for claiming it. No one cares about 1908. Let it go.

This is a genocide of the 1908 Tigers. I’m protesting.

No.
Here's a little history lesson. Tulane spent 10 years(!) during that era trying to get LSU thrown out of their conference, the SIAA. I mean, if you can't beat LSU on the field, use the conference to harass them, right? On the contrary, Tulane was the one who was found to have done some improper things and had to forfeit one of its victories against LSU. Eventually, Tulane even withdrew from the SIAA out of protest for a few years, because Tulane was so intent on destroying LSU and were unable to sway the SIAA into helping them do so. LSU basically had to start playing Arkansas as its season finale opponent for a few years while Tulane was self-isolating itself like this.
As far as the specific claims of professionalism during the 1908 season, LSU was cleared of all of the charges by the SIAA at their next conference meeting. LSU, fully aware that certain people were still not going to be satisfied by that, voluntarily insisted that a fuller and more complete investigation be performed against itself by the conference. Again, after the longer investigation, the charges against LSU were still dismissed.
Now, if passing not one but two investigations by the SIAA is still not enough for you, then I don't know what else to tell you to convince you.

I still claim 2011 as Co Champs.
If the fricking media did it for 2003 USC then it should be done for LSU for beating Bama and winning the Conference.

Many folks don’t know it, but LSU also won the Heisman Trophy in 1908…Doc Fenton won it!

Our new gov will try to out-tuff the Texas gov and send national guard or state troopers to beat your arse for protesting.

Well we have to what’s most important right now in the world and that’s recognizing the damn 1908 team.
