Ford is absolutely trying to make it up on parts. Prices of $1,500 or more for a bare taillight assembly are common on their premium trim trucks.

The headlight assembly, with bulbs, for a 2004 Cadillac CTS was $1500 twenty years ago.
*I can't believe 2004 was 20 years ago....
