The Saints need to restock the shelves and draft the best available. Hopefully, that is an OT, but if it’s not they should pass and go to plan B.
We need to find a starter or two in the lower rounds plus some depth. We trade these pucks too often and find ourselves short of talent with little cap room.

Ideally, yes. But in this draft the Saints have a 1st round pick (14), a second round pick (45), then four 5th round picks (150, 168, 170, 175), two 6th round picks, and a 7th round pick.
The odds of the Saints finding a quality starter or two with 5th, 6th, and/or 7th round picks are relatively low. They MAY have hit last year with Howden (5th round) and Perry (6th), but that is still TBD. However, aside from those two, the list of starters and/or quality depth they've picked from rounds 5-7 is relatively short. So, do you sit back and hope you beat the odds by finding some good players in rounds 5-7? Or do you try to package some of those picks for, say, 3 top 120 picks where the odds of "hitting" are higher?
I'd be shocked if the Saints don't make a trade to ensure they get at least 3 (maybe four) picks in the top 130. They aren't going to take a long lunch in rounds 3 and 4. They are making a pick in at least one of those rounds...even though they currently don't have one.

That SHOULD be the plan. Unfortunately, the cap situation has made the draft the only place to get an OT and Loomis isn't capable of not filling this year's need.
