Maybe Ed O left the program in shambles more than we all thought.
But making it to the SEC championship in his fist year, beating Alabama, and signing #1 talent in the country should be shrugged off.
Will BK win a NC at LSU? Maybe.
Am I concerned about 2024 defense? Yes.
Anything can happen any year more than ever.

The op is all true. We are well behind in NIL under BK

I’ve been a huge Kelly guy but DT will prevent this loaded team from making the playoff and Kelly refuses to pay what it takes to fix it despite saying he would

and word is they aren’t letting him leave without committing

Another issue is that there is NIL and theirs TAF. They don't work together, and there are way to many stupid rules on how we can collect money.
I would think that in game where LSU is up by a few scores at halftime, they come over the loud speaker and says "TEXT: GEAUX to 57677 to donate $10.00 to the athletic fund. It will go towards new projects and NIL"
There's 100,000 people in there. A large percent have had a few drinks and are happy that the tigers are up. If you can get 25,000 to do it most home games you can raise some money.

Welp, it was a fun few years. May as well cancel the season and fire the HC. Perhaps even bring Orgeron back to fund-raise. An insider on another board says O's been watching updated film from 1998 to refine and perfect his "attacking 4-3" defense and is ready to release this Window's 98-esque version on the football world.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's unlikely LSU was ever going to compete for a championship this year. And a few marginal transfer DTs aren't the difference in doing so. LSU is replacing probably the most explosive QB in school history who, at times, was damn near a one man show on offense. Not to mention two WRs who will become NFL players tomorrow. While LSU's offense this season could/should still be pretty good, it's unrealistic to think it will be as good as last year's group.
On defense the holes are greater than just DT. While DT may the biggest, there's concern at all three levels going into the season. Fortunately, a defensive staff should be able to make the best of it to improve upon last year's awful performance. But there is only so much they can do.
LAST SEASON was set up to be the year for a championship run. And it took the DC stunningly replacing Lou Tepper for the top season killing performance of all time to prevent that from happening. This season was always going to be somewhat of a rebuilding/reloading year in terms of actually competing for a championship. So forgive me if I'm not quite ready to commit harakiri because some insider laments LSU not wanting to grossly over pay for average DTs.

This generally falls on one man. I love BK, but he refuses to fund raise. It bums me out to say this, “money was in a better situation with O.”
both of these statements are false

We should be favorite in 11 or 12 games. We are a playoff team

You have no idea what anyone is getting paid.

The outreach marketing for Bayou Traditions has been unfortunately subpar, I doubt most casual LSU fans know it exists.

CBK said early on he wanted to build the program back via recruiting and not the portal. He is correct. The portal is not a long term solution. It may result in weak spots , but ultimately he has recruiting where it needs to be to sustain long term excellence. Ole Miss better win it all this year bc they shot their wad. Their recruiting and depth will be atrocious over the next few years.

You also have to remember that NIL payments/negotiations don't take place in a vacuum. If you start grossly overpaying for relatively average 1 year "rentals" the other players on your team may start to leverage that in search of their own raises. I'm sure LSU has a market value number set for the prospective transfers. If someone else wants to massively overpay, then so be it. LSU is not a couple of average DTs away from truly competing for a championship this season.

Hope so, but in reality a lot has changed since then league-wide.
