I believe the majority of those parents who pay for travel don't to deal with the culture that is associated with Rec leagues. That is a small portion of the main reason behind the exodus to Travel. The larger portion think their kid is going to lock down a scholarship. What I don't get is, they do this from a very young age, then all the way through high school. Why wouldn't they just save that money and use it for college tuition savings account? My other thought is that the parents love the travel and attention that comes with being on these travel teams. Then they love to bitch about how much it cost.

Ain't going to be any time soon, cities are building sports complexes to host these tournaments year round. They are upgrading existing complexes to host more games simultaneously. That's big money, big big money. They aren't turning their backs on that shite any time soon. Because rec leagues ain't going to foot that bill for seasonal sports.
