Doesn’t take a big brain or even a small brain. Just a brain will suffice but I will try to explain it to you anyway.

A lot of the Muslims in the Middle East hate America. But Iran hates us most of all. Partly because of sanctions and stopping their nuclear program but also because we are keeping them from taking over the Middle East. Muslims in Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait also hate us and dont want us to have bases in the holy lands. But the people in charge of these countries want to keep their money, mansions, and cars so over the protest of their people they allow us to have bases there to ensure stability.
This stability allows them to continue producing and selling oil. These countries leaders are mostly concerned about money.

Iran is also in the region. Unlike the other countries who have monarchies with kings who happen to be Muslim. Iran is more of a theocracy and its leaders care way more about Islamic goals. These are the kind of countries that you have to worry about doing things that are not in their own best interest. For instance Iran continued to defy the world on its nuclear program and continued to fund terrorism even though it has cost them hundreds of billions of dollars. It also has almost double the population of Saudi, UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait combined.
If the USA unilaterally pulled out of the Middle East it would signal to the world that we are done with the region. We could wag our finger at Iran and say dont make us come back over here but it would still create a huge power vacuum.

Without our protection Iran would take over these other countries. They could take them over and continue to produce and sell oil. But any time the world pissed them off (some Danish cartoonist prints a comic strip with Mohammed fricking a goat) they will hold the world hostage as they would then control the largest percentage of oil production in the world.
Why do people think they will do this? Because they have said the Middle East should be united under one Muslim ruler.
If we decided to come liberate the other countries Iran would sabotage the oil wells and refineries as they leave.
Why do we think they would do that? Because that is exactly what Iraq did when we kicked them out of Kuwait.

To sum up a long post, when Iran tells you and shows you want they want to do - believe them. They fund and support terrorist groups in Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Yemen, Bahrain, Iraq and more. They attack Israelis, Americans, Saudis, Yemenese and more. They think they are doing what allah wants them to do. That makes them more dangerous than a country that you can bribe.
