If you enter the portal, do you immediately loose your benefits ie. scholarship, housing, medical, meals and all the other things that go along with being a member of the team.

Whether you can or not, no school wants to have the label of doing that.

Also do most players entering the portal already have a plan in mind, that is have they been contacted by interested party assuring them of interest in their services.

According to Josh Pate and Joel Kaltt from coaches they've spoken to, yes.

lso are these players represented by an agent or someone who functions as a negotiator in the NIL era.

A lot of them do have someone. One of the things that Klatt has called for (in a way) is these "agents" having to register with NCAA or someone to be allowed to rep athletes. An issue is having people who don't know what they're doing, or nefarious "agents" taking advantage of players lack of knowledge. Some "agents" have gotten kids to sign for a percentage of earnings in perpetuity. Thats not right.

It's actually crazy how many players have agents now. Even shitty players have agents. That was never going to work without regulations. Just think if the NFL let anyone be an agent.
