Would 2012 LSU football have won the SEC if honey badger didn’t get suspended?

Both losses were one possession Games. And even if we lose to Florida, I think we beat Bama because of the emotion in Tiger stadium that night.

They would have had a good chance to win the 2012 national championship and avenge the 2011 disaster

The timeline would have completely changed

Without question think how many times his turnovers or returns helped set up the offense in 2010 & 2011? LSU runs it back undefeated in the regular season in 2012 if he’s active.

100%. Jalen Mills never blitzes on the dump to Yeldon because Tyrann wouldn’t have gotten confused about the defensive call. Still one of the most disappointing finishes I’ve ever witnessed in Tiger Stadium

Probably win the whole thing with Tyrann

It’s crazy the “personnel issues” on that team

Tyrann - kicked off team
Chris Faulk - torn ACL after game 1 or 2
Alfred Blue - torn ACL a couple games in while averaging 100ypg
Alex Hurst - quits mid season
Williford - career ending concussion mid season
Tahj Jones - academic suspension for regular season
Kwon - breaks in as a freshman starter, then gets hurt for a few games

I feel like there were a couple more as well.

Give me Tyrann, Faulk and Blue and we ain’t losing.

He would have been able to score more than 14 points against Florida?

Definitely, in my opinion. Would have beaten Bama then demolished Notre Dame

Yes. We win the national championship that year. Losing Honey Badger took the fire out of that team too. He was the spark plug for the whole team.

So Tyrann tackles Yeldon?

Maybe Bama. HB would maybe not have allowed bama to go right down the field at the end.

But that game was lost when Miles didn't try to get one more first down after reaching the bama 28, going BACKWARD, then missing the FG.

Fun fact, before bama got the ball back at the very end, they had as a TEAM - 5 ("FIVE") yards Total Offense in the entire second half. Five.

What's even more sobering is the fact that LSU destroyed it's last 3 opponents after the bama game.

We very easily should have been 11-1 and in the SECCG and NC conversation. STILL pisses me off...

Defense wasn’t the issue with the 2012 team. Honestly think not playing Mett in 2011 was the biggest issue with 2012. He made tremendous strides in 2013 after taking his lumps in 2012.

IMO, he probably accounted for a 6 point per game swing (returns, turnovers, sacks, passes defended, tackles, and, of course, defensive scores). Insane how big his impact on the game was. I'd like to see some sophisticated better's individual line on how much Mathieu was worth all by himself.

Based strictly on his actual scoring plays and the field-flipping effects of the turnovers he forced, Mathieu's presence was worth somewhere in the vicinity of a touchdown per game, without taking a single snap on offense.

Yes. We could very well have been undefeated in the regular season. All we would have had to do is beat UGA in the SEC championship, and then we would have had an opportunity to go beat Notre Dame for the BCS national title that year.

Mathieu snuffs out the Yeldon screen. No doubt in my mind.
