Considering I burned an American flag at my high school during a presentation in speech class, no

That would be somewhat hypocritical of me

On the night the movie played at our base .....All of our Dad's were on the back row of the theater. We walked in and sat down. Movie started, Jimi Hendrix came out, we stood upMovie stopped, house lights on .......ushered out. My Dad and the rest of the Officers and NCO's watching.....We walked out, met our Girlfriends in the line outside, got back in, line, got our tickets and we back for the second show.

That was a long time ago, but if my memory serves me well, Jimi Hendrix played the Star Spangled banner on day 3 of Woodstock at almost the end of the festival as reflected in the over three hour filmed documentary.

You watched almost the whole movie, raised house lights, were escorted out, and returned for the next three hour screening ?

I would want to know--not to force them to stand or take part but to impress upon my minor idiot the reasons they should show respect by doing so.

You know there is and I know you're grading their papers harder than the students that stand.

A major problem. There are unwritten rules. That’s one of them.

Yes It would bother me.

As a teacher and a son of a veteran, it absolutely infuriates me every morning when these 13-14-15 - year old students refuse to stand for the pledge and there's not a thing I can do about it.

Frankly, I would not teach in a school, nor send my kids to this school, where this is a regular occurrence.

You need to reevaluate your job/town and get the frick out. Mold the minds and lives of kids who are in a school where this is required - like a private, Christian school. Schools where 13-15 year old kids don't stand for the pledge are shite and should be beneath you.

Your grandparent didn't have to say the current pledge while in school either. A bit ironic, like pretending korea had frick all to do with the rights of US citizens.

Spot on, sir

My opinion is that my kids should stand until they can give me a rational argument as to why they won’t.

Hell no. I think the pledge for children is a bit cultish. I'm not pledging allegiance to any government. They need to be allegiant to the people.

The best idea in the world is to force kids to do something, no matter what it is, if your goal is to convince them they despise doing it and will never do it when not forced to. It will also render the action meaningless for an entire generation. We should force them to pray and attend church every time the doors are open. In 20 years churches would no longer exist and we’d be done with that silliness

Wouldn’t bother me, but I would ask why and then engage in meaningful dialog.
