ironically eagles have pick 22, same spot justin jefferson was drafted by vikings when they had diggs and thielan

Ironically, I said over and over in the draft threads that year we needed to draft Jefferson and was told receiver was the last thing we needed lol. Deja vu….

Thomas won’t be as good as Jefferson. But he can be a faster Tee Higgins and fits our offense perfectly.

No shite. Take Thomas in the first if the top 5 tackles are off the board. I’d probably still take him over Latham.

I ain't moving back from 14 to 22 just for #50. It doesn't always work out--and hasn't lately to obvious detriment to our roster--but I like the attitude of aggressively going after the guy you love than moving back and passively taking the default BPA/position of need guy as the default that you might not be in love with. Would rather whiff on a guy that we take with conviction than make a "meh" pick that nobody is really sold on at that spot.

Normally I’d agree, but Loomis has fricked up our drafts so bad recently. This team has so many holes and adding a bonus top 50 player is a big deal. 22 is a sweet spot where one of the deeper positions we need should have someone slip. I think Latham or the Washington Tackle will be there.

Why?

Latham is a monster. Can for sure be a rt and maybe even your left.

Super high on Brian Thomas Jr but you have to come out of this draft with line help on either side of the ball.

I actually think some nfl people underrate thomas jr.

Loomis will never do it but this is the perfect draft for it. We could come away with 2 starting OL and a starting WR or a starter at OT, WR and DT if we traded back a few spots and this team isn’t one player away. We need an injection of young talent across the roster.

We gave up two years of draft picks to get Olave but moving up a few spots at the bottom half of the first would be impossible ehh….

And Olave will never be in the same tier as JJ.

In theory, if you did this trade and hit on all the picks, you could re-open the contending window. Unfortunately, we will never test this theory.

Given our situation it would be smart. We could probably give them 14 in exchange for 22, 50, and swap 150 for 120. We need cheap, quality depth at multiple positions. This is how you get it.

Why do yall think Loomis always ran the draft? Sean ran these drafts the years he was here and I'm pretty sure that Sean made personal decisions. Loomis is nothing but a contract dude.

I think Loomis ran the draft in the pre CSP era. I don't think that was the case afterwards. Now I think Ireland does most the leg work. What do I know.

Loomis Famously Loves to GIVE UP assets moving UP and Trade Away Multiple Top Picks to acquire 1 pick (Player)

That's What HE LOVES !!!

while i agree that Loomis is an idiot, remember, Jeff Ireland was brough in to pretty much run the draft. He was applauded for the 2017 draft, so he should take ALOT of blame for the past few drafts being pretty much flops.

100%. We definitely need an injection of youth. And you will still get a really good talent at 22. After 22, around that spot, I think the talent starts to decline. I’m pretty sure one of the top tier tackles will be there, but if not BTJ or someone that shouldn’t be will. And can probably get another starter at 50 if they chose correctly.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth of Philly raping us in that trade so we can make up for it with getting our pick back at least.

Loomis basically says nothing whatsoever about the draft or philosophy in any interviews, except for one thing:

He has repeatedly said outright that he doesn't believe in moving backwards, that he believes in aggressively getting the guys you want to get. He doesn't believe in moving back and taking more shots at "lesser" talent.

That doesn't mean that the situation won't call for it, as he has said, but its just not his overarching philosophy.
