I just think it’s crazy the JV on Chet mismatch was so blatant and constant but with 14 seconds on the clock and in need of 2 points he doesn’t get a look.

I think JV played pretty good but I’m not sure I trust him with the game on the line to get us a game tying bucket. Thats not his role at all or who he is. If you have BI, Trey and CJ on this roster- they should be able to get a shot or gameplan them to get an open shot.

I woudln't give JV the ball with 14 seconds left either.

If it was a little more time, i think i'd consider it, just to draw the double team in the hopes we'd get a really open look somewhere else, but i don't want shite breaking down and JV is the guy that has to create a shot.

I do think he should have been utlized to set the pick for CJ instead of Trey though. It would force Chet to switch onto CJ or give him a decent look at 3.
and if he switches then we'd hopefully be able to quickly get the ball into JV.

I've already said i would have rathered a handoff to BI where a pick was set before the hand off as well to get Dort off of him and then have BI go strong to the rim with 4 shooters on the court, not JV or Larry.

Or if you leave JV in, then JV sets the pick for CJ at the top of the key, going left. Trey is in the left corner. JV rolls to the goal. Herb is in the right corner. BI is on the right wing and sort of follows CJ in case the play breaks down and he can get the ball and try to get a desperation shot off.
When CJ comes off that pick Chet has to guard him, assuming it's a good pick. If CJ comes off the pick hard then Trey's man might help, and if he does you hit Trey and he shoots it, or he immediately sees the mismatch JV has as the roll guy and hits him for an easy bucket. The entry pass into JV would be easier from Trey in the corner than from CJ through Chet on the wing. If Chet doesn't come out on CJ, then you shoot the open 3. And I'd start all that action pretty quickly after taking it out, meaning if you shoot with 8 seconds left who cares. Gives us time to rebound, or to foul again and get another chance if they miss 1 of 2 FT's.
