Normally I'd agree, but several months ago I was playing through NieR Replicant, and while I loved the story, characters, etc., I thought the battles were a slog to get through. Luckily, that game has an "Auto-Battle" mode where AI takes over for all the battles.
I honestly don't think I would have finished the game without that option
Plus, it was pretty cool to see the AI use all sorts of combos that I would never be able to pull off

Makes sense. Automating specific tasks is a good game option.
But if I'm playing a game I want to be making at least some decisions. Otherwise it's a movie.
