Also remember, the state by then will have closed primaries. So no telling what extreme left or right candidate makes it out of the primaries on either side, making it a Sophie’s choice.

I’ve generally liked him overall, but by 2028, he’ll turn 76 years old. Another six year term means in elected federal office until he’s 82. Sorry, but once you hit 80, it’s time to go home.
He doesn’t need to run again. Put someone else in there.
