Best to take those roots and put them in the trash can. Mimosa's are short lived and messy.
There are much better options. Oaks, even Cedar Elms.
Just not Mimosa nor Cedars.

Would tend to agree, but I have seen some truly massive (60-70ft) ones here in S. GA that are quite old. There are some sterile cultivars available nowadays that may be worth trying. Just don't grow the old school mimosas, they're terribly invasive
